Discussion:

Vegan Protein Blend, Nuvision Health Center's highly digestible blend contains pea protein isolate, glycine, taurine, rice protein concentrate, and L-glutamine. Aminogen is added to improve protein absoprtion and digestion in the body. The combination of pea protein, and rice protein has an amino score of 100% and will assist, and support protein metabolism and healthy body composition.

Protein is vital to the body for cell and tissue repair, enzyme synthesis, hormone balance, and other various metabolic functions. Protein is important for maintaining lean body mass with increased levels of physical activity. Protein supplements has been shown to be a big factor in increasing fat-free body mass and exercise-stimulated fat oxidation. Studies have shown that subjects who consume higher protein intake (80 g/d vs 59 g/d) achieved a significant increase fat-free mass and fat oxidation with a decrease in fat mass and fat percentage. Higher protein intake levels also improve satiety and supports diminished food intake during regular meals. A study done on pre protein showed that it is superior to milk protein in regards to satiety and inter-meal interval. Pea protein stimulates the release of cholecystokinin and glucagon-like peptide 1, gastrointestinal hormones that regulate appetite sensation.

While pea-based protein provides satisfying and versatile source of protein, it also aids in cardiovascular support. Animal studies have shown that pea-based protein has positive effects on lipid homeostasis by up-regulating genes that affect hepatic cholesterol uptake, and down-regulate genes that affect fatty acid synthesis.

Artinia Chitin-Glucan is incorporated into lean meal to assist with antioxidant activity and cardiovascular health. Artinia is an insoluble, purified, gluten-free fiber ingredient composed of chitin and beta-glucan chains. The research conducted on Artinia in regards to maintaining oxidative balance and artery health, which are main components in cardiovascular health, have shown positive results. An animal study indicated that chitin-glucan supports cardiovascular health by maintaining healthy arteries, reducing cardiac super anion and liver malondialdehyde (markers of oxidation) and promoting superoxide dismutase and glutothione activty.

Along with animal trials, human trials have yielded positive results as well. A double-blind placebo-controlled study of Artinia revealed that 1.5 g/day supported the subjects LDL cholesterol levels already within normal range, and 4.5 g/day greatly supported the subjects natural antioxidant system and oxidative balance of LDL cholesterol. Artinia was found safe and tolerated well at a dose of 4.5 g/day. Lean Meal provides 2.25g per serving and is a healthy alternative to phytosterol supplementation and has not been shown to interfere with absorption of fat-soluble vitamins or antioxidants.

Micronutrient support: Lean Meal contains a balanced amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Nutrients which are important to supporting the many metabolic processes in the body. B vitamins are present in their bioactive form such as, riboflavin 5'-phosphate, pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, methylcobalamin, and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate as Quartrefolic.

Sugar- and Stevia-Free: Lean Meal is sweetened with monk fruit extract in place of sugar or stevia. Research suggests that a high amount of added sugars will increase adiposity, risk of cardiometabolic disease, and disrupts lipid regulation.

Glutamine: Glutamine is an conditionally essential amino acid that is vital for replenishing amino acid stores, especially after stress or exercise. Glutamine supports intestinal cell proliferation which will help preserve gut barrier function and overall intestinal health.

Inulin: Inulin is a soluble fiber that is produced and fermented by colon bacteria into short-chain fatty acids that provide a positive effect on lipid metabolism and support healthy colon transit time.
